What does the future hold?

More and more—our FUTURE is NOW!! On Valentine’s Day, Lift Me Up! completed the purchase of the property and the indoor arena located at 9704 Georgetown Pike, adjacent to our current location. With this acquisition, we are able to move more deliberately in accomplishing our goals. The primary goal is an ongoing one--to provide the community with a center dedicated to Therapeutic Riding and Hippotherapy. We have been able to offer therapeutic riding benefits to hundreds of our neighbors over our more than 30 years. We now have an establishment that includes an indoor arena, stables, and pasture. This is already a special place where the team of the horse, the rider, the therapist, the instructor, the volunteer, and the family come together to touch the lives and hearts of all. In 2005 LMU was able to cut its TWO-YEAR waiting list in HALF!! The increase in the number of students we are able to accommodate has been a challenge—a wonderful challenge! In the joy at our accomplishment lies an additional layer of responsibility—the need for a more aggressive capital campaign. Now we need the funds to sustain the program (at a higher level of activity) AND pay the mortgage. (YOU can help—please see ‘Lend a Hand!”)We look forward to enhancing our facilities and our program offerings as time goes on. In September of 2006, LMU presented the first installment of what is sure to be a continuing training program—our objective is to maintain the excellence of our therapeutic riding program, and to expand its scope to better serve the community.

Lift Me Up! is a local organization in Great Falls, Virginia which provides therapeutic horseback riding to children with disabilities. We serve more than 80 riders each week (and would like to serve more if we can get more funding - the waiting list is long and growing). My six year old daughter, who is blind, rides in the program.
