LMU! Special Events

Lift Me Up! sponsors a number of special events throughout the year to raise funds to support our programs, to reach out to and share with our community and to celebrate the ongoing accomplishments of our special riders

LMU! Volunteer Day
October 27,2003
Lift Me Up! Therapeutic Horseback Riding Program will be hosting a volunteer opportunity on Saturday, October 27 in conjunction with Volunteer Fairfax VolunteerFest '01. Interested parties should come to 9700 Georgetown Pike in Great Falls, Virginia, at 10 a.m. and be ready to help winterize the facility. Volunteers will be caulking, painting and making general preparations for winter on run-in shelters for the horses and the program's administrative sheds. Volunteers are asked to bring paint brushes, caulk guns and/or step ladders to aid in the process. Paint and caulk will be supplied. For further information on volunteer day, please call Lift Me Up! at 703-759-6221 or e-mail us at Lift Me Up!

The 16th Annual Ride-A-Thon

Each year LMU! holds a Ride-a-thon.   A fantastic fun event for riders to bring their horses to trail that woldn't normally be available or for walkers to experience the beauty of Great Falls and the Potomac River.

This year's Ride-a-thon took place on June 1st at Southdown Farm on a damp, blustery day. Howver, the weather did not prevent the event from being successful and well-attended. It was one of our most successful ever and also had the most walkers.

We want to thank our coporate sponsors.  Their support helps keep our program running and our horses happy. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Newcomers Club of Great Falls, the SABA Group and Classic Designs Remodeling & Additions for their very generous support.

Also, we would like to recognize Porfessional Health Services and the Terr family on behaf of Maderia School for their sponsorships.

And we want to offer a great Thank You! to all of our sponsers for 2003. You are all greatly appreciated.
